FAQ

  • Before I Divorce, Is There a Residency Requirement in Florida?

If you are going to file for divorce in Florida, one spouse must have lived as a resident in Florida for at least six months before divorce papers are submitted. If you have lived outside Florida temporarily, a judge has to decide whether or not you can still be counted as a resident. If you’re in the military, however, you still could be considered a Florida resident even if you have been stationed somewhere outside of Florida.

  • What Is Imputed Income in a Child Support Case?

When a court deems that a parent has purposefully quit a job, refused a promotion, or underreported salary in order to get out of paying the full child support that they could, the court can impute a higher income to that parent, calculating what he or she truly owes in child support accordingly.

  • How Can Mediation Help Me?

Whether you want to use a mediator for a divorce, child custody, or other family law dispute, mediation has helped thousands of our clients save time, money, and needless stress. A neutral third party, the mediator, can help you and the other party to negotiate a mutually satisfactory settlement that enables you to make the final decisions instead of a judge. As this amicable process keeps you out of court, it not only saves you from extensive legal costs, but it also ensures that your case remains private, away from public view.
